Today, about 1pm EST I went into the Georgetown BCBG location to exchange a jacket I had gotten as a gift. The jacket was an XS, I needed an XXS. All I wanted to do was get a different size in the jacket. I brought up both jackets to a sales associate who referred me to the manager, Eric Jaeckel.

I told him I didn't know when the item was purchased, but I received it yesterday. He starts looking at my jacket, trying to find something wrong with it, but nothing. He then tells me that he can't exchange the size for me because my jacket was purchased overseas. He said this because he looked at me and saw that I was ethnically Asian. I told him I'm American, born in America, live in America and the person who purchased for me is definitely American and 100% bought it in America. He kept telling me he can't do it because the tags are different and since it was overseas he couldn't do anything. I kept telling him it was purchased in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. He kept *** new excuses why he couldn't exchange the sizes for me but it was clear that he was racially profiling me. I called the customer service line I found on the BCBG website but it was for the web store so they were of no help whatsoever.

After going back to the manager after being on my phone for 5 minutes he still refused to do anything and was not apologetic at all and I was livid at that point for his blatant racism, *** attitude, and nonexistent customer service. If I was a little white girl he would've exchanged the jacket for me, no questions asked I'm sure. So I had to walk all the way back to my apartment in the pouring rain, livid from being racially discriminated against, and I still have a jacket that doesn't fit me. I later found out that the jacket that was purchased for me was actually purchased from the Georgetown location (yup, same store I tried to exchange it in). The jacket was purchased at Eric Jaeckel's store and he accused me of purchasing it overseas.

They sell you $400 dresses and give you customer service that's worse than Forever 21.

Monetary Loss: $338.

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia

Accuse someone of being racist, and in the same sentence you make a racist comment? "little white girl" Are you sure one of your family member's did not make the jacket in a sweatshop?

You're a horrible person. People of color know racism when it happens.

You cannot police other people's instincts, especially when those instincts are always sensed in this still racist America.

As for the "little white girl" comment. I don't see that as being racist. At all.

She's obviously a little Asian girl who needs to purchase a size XXS. She's just saying if she was a little white girl as opposed to a little Asian girl, she would've received better service.

Surely, if she was a white girl, she would not have been accused of purchasing things overseas. Or making things in sweatshops you disgusting, pompous, racist, bigoted pig.

In my experience, most people don't include receipts when gifting items. I know I don't since most retail stores are understanding about exchanges for gifts. Most retail stores handle size exchanges no questions asked
